Painted my whole living room with that 'cool' gray everyone was using a few years back and it just looks... blue. Like, weirdly blue in our light.

Ugh, that's the worst. What kind of light bulbs do you have? @noah_patel is right about that making a huge difference.

My kitchen looked like a morgue until I swapped in some 2700K bulbs.

Yeah, that "cool gray" thing got everyone. It's all about the undertones and your light bulbs, man. Looks totally different at home than on the chip.
