Had to choose between a swamp cooler and central air for my house near UNM
Went with the swamp cooler to save on bills, but the dust this spring is killing me. Anyone have a good filter setup they like?

Try a MERV 8 filter on the intake.

Honestly putting a MERV 8 on the intake is a bad idea. That's how you wreck your blower motor. The intake side pulls in way more dirt and hair, a MERV 8 will clog up in like a month. You'll lose airflow and the motor has to work way harder. Just use the cheap fiberglass ones for the intake to catch the big stuff.

MERV 8 is for the return, not the intake side.
