Am I the only one who quit guessing keypad heights and now measures from the floor every time
For my first two years I mounted keypads at whatever height looked right, usually somewhere around 48 to 52 inches, and I never wrote it down. Then a customer in Rochester asked why the pad by her back door sat lower than the one by the front, and I had no answer for her. Now I mark 48 inches from the finished floor with a pencil line before I drill anything, even on quick swap jobs. Takes about 20 seconds and stops me from eyeballing it wrong. Her two pads were almost 3 inches apart, which is more than I would have guessed. Does anyone else keep a set number for that, or do you just go off the door handle height?
