Pro tip: don't buy the $38 "universal" cotter pin kit, just buy the sizes you need
Bought one of those big plastic organizer kits with 500 cotter pins in 12 sizes last spring because I was tired of digging through the bin for the right one. Ended up using maybe 4 sizes on the King Airs and 172s I see all week, and the rest just sit there taking up space in my rollaway. Here is the kicker, half the pins in that kit had burrs on the ends that snag the castle nut threads, so I tossed about 60 of them right in the trash. Spent $38 to basically get a $9 pile of useful pins plus a plastic box I could have grabbed at Harbor Freight for $4. If anyone wants the organizer itself, it is yours, just pay the shipping. What brand of pins are you all actually running that don't come out rough like that?
