Manually logging every aircraft part used to build real focus.
Now with digital systems, that hands-on knowledge is disappearing.

Sure, it feels like we're losing something, but is it really that bad? My mechanic just plugs a tablet into the car now, but he still has to know what the codes mean to fix it. The system tracks the part, but a person still has to install it right and know why it failed. Maybe the hands-on knowledge is just changing into system knowledge instead of completely going away. What specific problem comes from not writing it down by hand anymore?

You said the system tracks the part, but that's ONLY true if the database is perfect. What happens when the server has a glitch and the work order history gets wiped? I've seen it with service records. If no one wrote down the weird fix they did last year, that knowledge is just GONE. The problem isn't the tablet, it's having zero backup outside the system.
