Caught a guy on the ramp using a crescent wrench on safety wire
Heard him say "it's close enough" as he twisted the wire with the pliers side of the wrench. Took 10 minutes to show him a proper pair of safety wire pliers costs 30 bucks and saves your knuckles. Anyone else run into folks using the wrong tool just because it's in reach?

Close enough" is how my buddy fixed his lawnmower with a coat hanger, then wondered why it caught fire.

Call a real mechanic next time instead of guessing with a coat hanger. That kind of shortcut thinking is exactly why things blow up in people's faces. Ngl, you get what you pay for with repairs, and "close enough" is just a shortcut to a bigger problem.
