Am I the only one who didn't know a 737 tire is rated for only 15 landings?
I was flipping through a tire spec sheet during a slow shift at our hangar in Spokane last Friday and saw the number 15 right there in the notes. Fifteen landings before a retread or swap. I sat there thinking about how I've yanked tires off planes for years without ever once wondering how many trips they had on them. I walked over to a guy who has been turning wrenches for 22 years and asked if that number sounded right. He laughed, said that is the book answer, and that in the real world we pull them way earlier than that depending on wear. Now I keep a little pocket notebook and write down the tire hours every time I do a walk around. Does anyone here keep track of actual landing cycles on their fleet, or is it all by visual check for you too?
