Tried store-bought frozen fries vs homemade in the air fryer and one was way better

I bought a bag of frozen crinkle cuts from the grocery store last week because I was lazy. Threw them in the air fryer at 400 for 12 minutes and they came out okay, a little soggy in the middle. Then yesterday I cut up some russet potatoes myself, soaked them in cold water for 30 minutes, dried them off, tossed them in a little oil and salt. Same temp and time in the air fryer and they were way crispier on the outside and fluffy inside. The homemade ones took more effort but the texture was miles ahead. I'm not sure if I just got a bad bag of frozen ones or if homemade always wins. Has anyone else compared these two and found a frozen brand that actually holds up?

Honestly, homemade just hits different for most stuff once you do it right.

Oh man, that's exactly what I found too. I mean, the frozen ones are fine in a pinch but the homemade ones are just way better every time. I started cutting my potatoes into wedges and parboiling them for like 5 minutes before air frying and it's even crispier, maybe that would work for you too.
