PSA: Stop calling every chatbot an AI innovation

I keep seeing people in this community hype up basic chatbots like they're groundbreaking. Last week someone posted about a GPT wrapper that just replies to emails with canned responses calling it a "revolution." That's not innovation, it's just slapping a frontend on someone else's API. Real AI innovation is stuff like those tiny models that run on edge devices or new training methods that cut energy use by 30 percent. Has anyone else noticed how watered down the term "innovation" has gotten around here?

Bro right? I saw someone in another thread calling a chatbot that just says "sorry for the delay" a "next gen customer service breakthrough" lmao. Meanwhile actual researchers are out here doing stuff like getting machine learning models to run on a smart thermostat and nobody bats an eye. Its like we forgot what the word innovation actually means and now anything with an API key counts.
