Choosing between a full tile backsplash or just a strip behind the sink
I was redoing the small bathroom in our old house and hit a choice point at the sink. I could either tile the whole wall behind the vanity, about 15 square feet, or just do a classic 4-inch high strip. The full wall looked great in pictures but felt like a lot of work and material cost for a space you don't really see. I went with the strip using some basic white subway tile. It took me an afternoon to cut and set them with a $40 tile cutter from the hardware store. Honestly, it looks clean and classic, saved me probably $200 on tile and mortar, and was way less stressful. The only tricky part was getting the cut for the outside corner right on my first try. Has anyone else done a small strip like this and found it was enough, or do you wish you'd gone bigger later on?
