I had a standoff with a monkey over my passport in Bali

I was exploring alone in Bali when a monkey snatched my passport right from my hands. I had to trade a bunch of bananas to get it back, which was HILARIOUS to everyone around. What's the weirdest animal encounter you've had while traveling solo?

Trading bananas for your passport is pretty classic monkey business. Mine was less playful: got surrounded by rats the size of small cats in a temple courtyard. They just moved in a silent wave, parting around my feet. Felt less like an encounter and more like being politely ignored by a rodent army.

Yeah, that's the trick. Slow, shallow breathing sells it. They key off movement more than anything.
