Vent: My cousin keeps choosing easy dive sites for our group trips
We just booked our summer diving vacation, and my cousin pushed for that calm bay in Hawaii again because her kids are beginners. I was hoping to explore the coral walls in Palau, but she says it's too deep and scary for the family. Now my sister agrees with her, and I'm stuck with another basic dive. How do you handle different skill levels in family diving plans?

Yeah but that's exactly why we started splitting our group dives. Like if you're the one holding everyone back, you feel that pressure the whole time. My buddy just books two different trips now, a chill one for his family and a separate advanced week with just the experienced divers.

Remember that time my friend Dave panicked on a reef dive? He was so worried about keeping up that he forgot to check his air. Next thing you know, he's sucking tank dry at 80 feet. The guide had to share air with him just to get back to the boat. Dave said he felt like a total anchor dragging the whole group down. Makes you wonder why we don't just split by skill level from the start, right?
