Showerthought: I used to set posts with a hand auger and a level, now I just rent a hydraulic driver for anything over ten panels.

After a job in Phoenix where the ground was like concrete and I blew out my shoulder, I switched to a Bobcat PD10 driver I can tow behind my truck. That thing saves me a full day on a standard vinyl install and my body doesn't hate me anymore. Anyone else make the jump to powered post setting for good, or am I just getting soft?

Soft? Buddy, that's just called learning from experience. My back decided for me after one too many hand-auger days in clay. Now if a job needs more than a few posts, the power head comes out of the truck.

Learning from experience? Sounds like giving up to me. A real craftsman wouldn't let a sore back stop him.

Ever tried to work through a back injury? The pain makes your form sloppy and that's how you get hurt worse. Knowing your limits is what keeps you in the trade long term.
