Bought a $40 'quick fix' gadget for my car's AC that did nothing
Saw an ad for a refrigerant recharge kit at the auto store, said it would cool my car in minutes. Followed the instructions exactly and the AC still blows warm air. Anyone know a real fix or should I just take it to a shop now?

Those recharge cans are basically a scam for most AC problems. They only work if the system is just a little low on refrigerant, which is pretty rare. Usually warm air means a leak, a bad compressor, or a clogged expansion valve. You probably just wasted forty bucks and added the wrong amount of refrigerant, which can mess things up more. Honestly, take it to a good shop for a proper diagnosis before you cause real damage.
