Walking through an old paper mill made me rethink panel layouts
I had a service call at the abandoned Boise Cascade mill outside of town last Tuesday, and the 1960s switchgear was a mess of tangled conduits and unmarked breakers. It got me thinking about how we design panels now, we leave zero room for future circuits and it's going to be a nightmare for the next guy. Anyone else find older installs easier to trace than some of the new stuff we see? I'm about to redo a 200-amp panel and I'm leaning toward leaving extra knockouts and a clear bus map.
