Changed my mind about torque wrenches after watching a panel fail
Used to think torque wrenches on lugs were overkill for residential work. Then last month I checked a neighbor's 200 amp panel, the main breaker lug was barely hand tight. He said a guy did a "quick swap" for $150 cash. That thing could have arced and started a fire. Now I carry a cheap 1/2 inch drive torque wrench in my van, it's a $40 Harbor Freight one, and I use it every time I terminate anything bigger than a #10. Has anyone else found loose lugs on new or recent work?
