Hit 1,000 hours on my cutterhead today, felt weirdly proud
Been running the same 24 inch head since last spring and today the hour meter rolled past 1,000. Checked the wear rings and they're still within spec, didnt expect that after all the rock we punched through near the Yuba River. Anyone else keep track of cutterhead hours or just let it go until something breaks?

Might as well be counting the days until that thing eats a boulder and turns into scrap metal, right? 1,000 hours and the wear rings are fine, that's just showing off. Ha, I bet you also tell people your truck gets 30 mpg. We never track hours on ours, we just wait for the grinding noise to get loud enough to drown out the engine. It's called a maintenance plan, look it up. Good on you though, seriously, that's the kind of boring victory I can respect.
