Found out last Tuesday that one wrong line on a drawing costs way more than I thought
I was flipping through an old spec book at the shop and came across a note that a single dimensional error on a steel detail can run about $1,200 to fix once it hits the field. Sat there doing the math on a job from two years ago where I fat-fingered a hole spacing and it got caught at fab, not erection. Saved ourselves maybe ten grand by dumb luck. Now I want to know what catches other people's mistakes, do you guys run your own drawings past a second set of eyes, or is that just me being green?
