Went to Lowe's at 8pm and found 3 different shelf brackets that claimed to hold the same weight

None of them even fit the standard pegboard holes. Two had screws that stripped before they went in. The third one just bent when I put a 10 lb box on it. Gave up and ordered online. Felt like they design this stuff to fail so you buy more. Anyone else notice hardware quality going downhill?

Honestly, "they design this stuff to fail so you buy more" is exactly what I've been saying. Last month I grabbed a "heavy duty" shelf bracket from Home Depot and it couldn't even hold a stack of magazines without sagging. The screw holes were off by like 2 millimeters too, so I had to drill new ones. Feels like they're just slapping weight ratings on junk and hoping nobody tests it.

Wait @the_drew did you end up drilling the new holes in the studs or just using drywall anchors? I'm wondering if part of the sagging is from the bracket itself or the hardware they toss in the box.
