That basement wall I thought would take 2 days... took 2 weeks
I decided to fix a small crack in my basement wall in Denver, figured a quick patch and some paint would do it. Two days in I realized the crack went all the way through and was leaking groundwater behind the old paneling. Ended up having to dig out a French drain along the entire north wall for drainage. Has anyone else had a "quick fix" turn into a full excavation job?

French drain from a hairline crack, classic humblebrag.

Whoa hold on. You know what the thing is with hairline cracks though? People act like they're nothing but I had a buddy who ignored one in his basement wall for like two years. Then one spring the ground got all saturated and that little crack turned into a waterfall during a heavy rain. He ended up having to rip out a whole section of drywall and dig around his foundation. So yeah maybe the guy is flexing a little but honestly if you catch a crack early and put in a proper drain you're saving yourself a world of headache later on. Better a humblebrag than a wet basement floor.
