PSA: My neighbor told me to skip the primer on my garage door repaint, and now I'm paying for it
Back in March I repainted my garage door and my neighbor Dale, who used to paint houses, said primer was a waste of cash and just to slap the paint on bare metal. I listened to him and saved about $28 on a can of primer. By June the paint was flaking off in sheets around the bottom panels where the sun hits it. That is 4 weekends of scraping and sanding I did not need to do. Anyone else get burned by a shortcut that a handy neighbor swore by?
