I finally found out why my miter saw cuts were always off by a hair
Took a free beginner woodworking class at the community center in Boise two weeks ago and the guy running it grabbed my square and showed me it was out by about 1/16 of an inch. I had been blaming my saw and my technique for months while that $12 square was quietly wrecking every picture frame I built. He said to check it against a known straight edge before every project, takes like ten seconds. Now my corners actually meet the way they should. Anyone else get burned by a cheap tool you trusted for way too long?
