Spray foam vs batt insulation in my attic, here's what I wish I knew

I was insulating my 1950s ranch in Cleveland last month and had to pick between spray foam at $2,800 or fiberglass batts for about $900. I went with the batts because of the cost, but now my utility bills are still high and I keep feeling drafts near the eaves. Has anyone else regretted cheaping out on attic insulation, or is there a trick to make batts work better in an old house?
