My paint can count hit 37 and I'm not even done with the hallway

I was cleaning out the garage and lined up all the empty ones from our house project. We started painting the whole place when we moved in six months ago, and I just hit 37 cans. That's not even counting primer or clear coats. It matters because I thought we'd be done by now, but this old plaster just soaks it up. Anyone else have a project where the supply count got way out of hand?

Wow, 37 is brutal. I switched to a thicker, one-coat paint for my plaster walls and it cut the can count in half. Still felt like a never ending job though.

Count the hours instead of the cans. I spent three full weekends just fixing cracks and sanding walls before I even opened a single paint bucket. The real number that got away from me was rolls of painter's tape, I went through two whole packs just on the trim in one room. Sometimes the prep work eats up more supplies than the actual paint.

Two packs of tape on one room is the real crime here. I swear that stuff disappears into another dimension the second you turn your back. My last project had me buying more spackle than paint, which feels like a home improvement scam. The real victory is finishing without buying a third ladder because you got mad and kicked the first one.
