Spent 6 weeks hunting down a bank that would let me open an account as a nomad

Been in Chiang Mai for 2 months now and ran into this wall where every bank here wants a work permit or a local lease longer than 3 months. I have neither. Tried 4 different banks, two of them sent me to branches across town, and one guy just laughed when I asked about a savings account. Finally found a smaller spot near the night market that let me open one with just my passport and a hotel booking. Whole process took 6 weeks of my time. How do other people handle banking when you move countries every few months? I'm about to head to Vietnam and I'm dreading doing this again.
