A hostel kitchen in Lisbon finally got me to stop booking places by the month
I spent 5 months in Lisbon last year doing the usual month by month rental thing, always hunting for the next spot around the 25th. One night I was cooking dinner in my hostel's shared kitchen while I was between places, and a guy from Brazil showed me his setup: he books 3 weeks max in any city and keeps the 4th week open for whatever comes up. I tried it the next month and ended up staying 6 extra days in Porto with two people I met at a coworking space there. My rent is a little higher per night now, around 15 percent more, but I stopped spending whole afternoons scrolling listings. The open week also gave me a buffer when a flight got moved and I didn't lose a deposit. Curious if anyone else keeps a flex week in their schedule or if that sounds like chaos to you.
