Spent $40 on a screen protector for my drawing tablet and it was a total waste
Bought a matte screen protector for my Cintiq last month. It was supposed to feel like paper and reduce glare. It just made the screen look grainy and colors washed out. I took it off after two days. Now I just use a smooth one that cost $10. Anyone else have a bad experience with those textured protectors?

Honestly those matte ones ruin the screen clarity every time.

Ugh, I totally get that. I had a matte screen protector on my last laptop and it drove me nuts. The grainy look made everything slightly blurry, especially in bright light. I switched to a glossy one and the difference was night and day, way sharper. It does show more fingerprints, but for me the clarity is worth the trade off. Have you tried a glossy protector instead?

@the_jake hit it dead on, I saw this article from a digital artist who tested like 6 different matte protectors and every single one they said killed the color accuracy and made the screen look like it had that weird oil slick effect. I remember they mentioned the only way matte works is if you already have a super bright display you can crank up to compensate, but even then the grainy look never goes away. My friend tried one on his iPad for Procreate and took it off within a day, said it felt like drawing on sandpaper but looked worse.
