My color calibration was off for 4 years because I trusted the monitor's default profile
I only caught it when a client in Austin sent back a print that looked orange compared to my file, so I borrowed a friend's $120 calibrator and realized my whites had a yellow tint since 2021, has anyone else found their default factory settings were just way too warm?

Tbh that exact thing happened to me too. I had my monitor set to a "sRGB mode" that I thought was accurate, but looking back at old photos, everything had this sickly greenish cast. A client pointed it out once, and I kept blaming my editing, not the screen. Finally bought a used calibrator off Facebook Marketplace for like $40 and it was night and day. The default factory profiles are basically just tuned to look bright and punchy in a store, not to match real prints. Honestly felt dumb for 3 years of guessing wrong. Now I calibrate every month and it saves me so many headaches.
