Subcontracted a cleaning crew in Hamtramck and got billed for their overtime

I run a small office building over on Joseph Campau and hired a licensed janitorial company for a one-time deep clean after a tenant moved out. They quoted me $850 for the job, which seemed fair. But when the invoice came, it was $1,140 because the crew had to work late to deal with the carpet staining I mentioned in my walkthrough notes. I tried to push back, but their contract said hourly rates apply after 6 PM and I never confirmed that in writing. I learned to get every single condition spelled out in the bid before signing, especially anything about stain mitigation or after-hours work. Has anyone else gotten hit with surprise charges from a subcontracted vendor in Detroit, and did you have any luck disputing it?
