Quote for downtown window tinting went sideways when the crew showed up late
Had a job in Greektown last Tuesday, 8am start. My guy for the glass film called in sick at 6:45, and the backup crew pulled up at 9:15 without the right cutting blade. Client was pacing the lobby, not happy. I ended up running to a hardware shop on Woodward to grab a $30 blade, then we split the work between two of us and finished by 3pm. Client paid the full $1,800, but only after I knocked off $150 for the delay. Anyone else ever eat a cost just to save a retail account?

Honestly, the $150 you ate wasn't the real cost here. The real cost was that backup crew showing up at 9:15 without a blade, that's the part that should scare you. They didn't check their own gear before rolling out, and that tells you more about their work than any late fee ever will. I'd rather eat the $150 and have a talk with that backup crew about double checking their truck every single morning before they leave the shop. Tbh, if they pull that again, you're not just losing money on a job, you're losing clients who will tell their whole building about it. That blade run on Woodward was the cheapest part of your whole morning.
