One line from a stranger at the coffee shop shifted my whole morning routine

I overheard this guy telling his friend he picks the slowest checkout line on purpose because it's the only 10 minutes he gets to breathe, and that hit me weird. I've been rushing through my errands for years, like hitting the express lane at the Safeway on 4th was some kind of win. So now I'm wondering, is it actually better to just lean into the wait sometimes, or am I just making excuses to slack off?

Last month I timed my grocery run and realized I was saving maybe 6 minutes by speed-walking through the store. Now I pick the longest line at the deli and just scroll my phone or watch people, and it honestly feels like a tiny reset button before I go home. Isn't the whole point of running errands to get them done without turning into a stressed mess over a few minutes?
