Why I turn off Bluetooth at the airport now
On my last flight, I left Bluetooth on and got weird pairing requests. It's a simple step to stop unwanted connections.

Seems a bit over the top to worry about Bluetooth pairing at the airport. In my experience, those requests are just from other devices nearby and don't usually lead to anything bad. Your mileage may vary, but I've never had a real issue leaving it on.

I get where @anthony_jenkins61 is coming from, but I had a weird time with constant pairing pop-ups last trip. Now I just switch Bluetooth off when I'm not using it. Saves battery too.

Waiting at O'Hare last week, my phone buzzed with seven pairing requests from devices named 'Free_WiFi_Device'. I couldn't believe how aggressive they were, like every few minutes another one popped up. It felt like someone was actively trying to connect, not just random nearby gadgets. After that, I always switch Bluetooth off until I'm on the plane. It's just not worth the risk when you see it happen that way.
