Turned on 2FA for my email last week and locked myself out for 3 hours
I finally set up two factor on my email account last week after a friend got his WhatsApp hacked. But I saved the backup codes in a note on the same phone I was using for the codes, so when my phone died at a coffee shop in Denver I was totally stuck. I ended up calling my brother to log into my account from his laptop just to get back in. Turns out the backup codes are supposed to go somewhere else, like printed paper or a password manager on a different device. Where do you guys actually keep your backup codes so this doesn't happen again?
