TIL a guy at Best Buy spent 20 minutes showing me how to lock down my mom's new router
He pulled up the admin page right there on the display laptop and said "nobody ever changes the default password, that's the whole ballgame," and now I want to know if anyone else has had a store employee just hand them a solid security tip like that?
Learned the hard way that the wifi password matters just as much as the admin one. My neighbor's kid got into my old router because I left the guest network wide open with no password, and he was using it to download stuff all night. Took me forever to figure out why my internet was crawling. So yeah, changing the admin login is step one, but don't forget the wifi and guest passwords too, that's the part most people skip.
