TIL a 6-digit PIN on my phone lock beat the fingerprint scanner after a guy at the Denver airport swiped my thumb
I was at Denver International last month and this guy in line bumped into me, then tried to unlock my phone with my own thumb while I was holding it. He failed because the scanner needs a live finger, but it got me thinking about the whole fingerprint vs PIN thing. I set a 6-digit PIN instead of the 4-digit one, and I also turned off the fingerprint unlock for the lock screen. Sounds paranoid, but two days later I read that a 4-digit PIN can be cracked in under 10 minutes with the right tool. The 6-digit one takes way longer, like hours or more, and I sleep better now. Anyone else ditch the fingerprint reader after a close call?
