Just realized my home router was still on the default admin password for 3 years
So last Tuesday I was trying to set up a guest network and decided to finally log into my router settings for the first time since I got it in 2022. The login was still admin/admin. I sat there staring at the screen for a solid minute just feeling dumb. I pulled up the connected devices list and saw 6 things I did not recognize, including something labeled 'unknown-android' that had been pulling data for who knows how long. I unplugged everything, did a full factory reset, and spent 3 hours that night redoing my whole network with a 20 character password and WPA3 turned on. Turns out the firmware was also from 2021 and had 14 known security holes. Has anyone else checked their router settings lately or is it just me who ignored this for years?
