I finally gave the local butcher a shot after 10 years of supermarket meat

I always figured the butcher shop on 5th Ave was just for rich folks or people who had too much time, so I stuck with the big chain near my gym. Last month they had a special on chuck roast for $6.50 a pound, cheaper than the grocery store, so I figured why not. The guy behind the counter actually asked how I was gonna cook it and then trimmed the fat cap different than I would have. That roast came out so tender my wife thought I used some fancy kitchen gadget, which I didn't. Now I'm wondering if I've been missing out on other stuff there too, like their sausage or the chicken breasts. Has anyone else switched from a big box store to a local shop and noticed a real difference, or was it just luck?
