The 14-day dialogue challenge that flipped my opinion on prompts
I used to think writing prompts were just lazy starting points, stuff for people who couldn't come up with their own ideas. Then a buddy in my writer's group dared me to take one prompt and write a 200-word piece every day for two straight weeks, no repeats. By day 6 I was digging into a character I'd never have touched otherwise, and by day 14 I had a whole mini-story arc that felt like mine, not the prompt's. Has anyone else tried a timed or daily constraint on a single prompt and seen their style shift that fast?
