Switched from plotting everything to discovery writing and it changed my drafts
I used to spend weeks mapping out every chapter in a bullet list before writing a single word. Then about 6 months ago, I tried just starting with a vague idea and seeing where the characters took me. My first discovery draft was a mess, sure, but it had way more energy than my plotted ones ever did. Now I do a loose outline of maybe 3 major plot points and let the rest happen as I write. The difference is night and day for my productivity, I finished a 50k word draft in 2 months instead of 6. Has anyone else tried switching methods like this?

Honestly plotting gives me way cleaner drafts though.
