Just realized I ditched the 3x5 index cards for a $9 voice memo app after 6 years of prompt ideas
Every prompt I came up with on my commute to the gym in Boise used to live on an index card in my glovebox, but after losing a whole stack to a spilled water bottle I switched to voice notes and now I've got 214 of them searchable on my phone, so which do you trust more for catching ideas, paper or your phone?
Paper still wins for me and its not even close. Pulling out a card forces me to actually stop and write the thing down, and that little pause is where the idea gets sharp. Voice notes are too easy, you just mumble something half baked and then you have 214 files you never want to listen to again. Plus searching a recording only works if you remember the right words, and half the time I don't. Glovebox cards never needed a battery either.
