Hot take: slinging the ball 6 ft closer cut my swing time by 20 seconds
I moved my headache ball from 12 ft to 6 ft under the boom tip on our 60 ton Liebherr back in March and my cycle time dropped noticeably on short picks. I mean, less cable to pay out and reel back in means fewer swings and less wear on the hoist brake too. My spotter Dale in Baton Rouge said I was crazy at first, now he asks for the short rig every pour. Anyone else run a shorter ball on tight sites or is it just me?
