Warning: a client's offhand comment about my color mixing made me redo my whole consult process
Six months ago a new client in Portland sat down and said, "Your hair always turns out a little warmer than the swatch, so I book you an extra week early." I had been mixing at the bowl by eyeball for years and never wrote anything down, so two different visits could give two different results. I started keeping a small notebook for each client with exact formulas, developer volume, and processing times, and I now snap a photo of the bowl under the same salon lights every time. My repeat clients have noticed the difference and my color correction bookings dropped from three a month to about one. Do any of you keep written formulas, or am I late to a party everyone else has been at for years?
