TIL a color wheel trick with bleach foils gave me a softer blend than my usual pattern
Last week I had a client with fine level 6 hair who wanted a soft balayage but my foils kept coming out striped at the roots. I started leaving a small sliver of unfoiled hair between each foil instead of packing them tight, and the blend came out way smoother than my usual full saturation. I learned that with fine hair, less product per foil actually gives a more diffused result, because the bleach does not bleed as hard into the neighbors. I used 20 vol with a clay lightener and checked it at 25 minutes instead of my usual 35. Curious if anyone here adjusts foil spacing based on density, or do you just change the developer?
