Realized last Tuesday I was holding my shears wrong for 3 years
I was cutting a client's bob in my chair and my thumb kept cramping, so she asked if I was okay and I said yeah just old shears, but then I looked down and saw my thumb was resting on top of the finger ring instead of through it. My instructor at Aveda back in 2021 never caught it and somehow neither did I, which explains why my hands ached after every 4 hour color day. Do you all ever catch yourself doing a basic thing wrong after years and wonder how nobody said anything?
Three years of cutting with your thumb on top like you're holding a damn TV remote is wild. The real crime is your instructor watched you do it for months and just collected that Aveda tuition anyway. At least now your hands get to find out what a four hour color day feels like without the ache.
