Hot take: Purple shampoo is way overhyped and most people use it wrong

I work at a salon in Austin and I swear every other client comes in with purple hair from using purple shampoo every single day. It's not supposed to be a daily thing you know? It's meant for toning once or twice a week max. I see so many brassy blondes that turn into lavender disasters because they think more is better. Why do stylists keep recommending it without explaining the frequency? Anyone else see this all the time?

My neighbor literally did the same thing as @park.riley's friend Sarah, showed up at a party with violet-tinted hair thinking it was the new trend. She had been using purple shampoo twice a day for a whole month because the bottle said 'tone brassiness' and she wanted extra results. I mean, it took three rounds of clarifying shampoo and a professional toner just to get her back to a normal blonde.

Man, my friend Sarah turned her whole head into a blueberry muffin just by using purple shampoo every day for two weeks straight. She thought it was like conditioner where you need a lot to work. Her blonde was straight up lavender, and her roots looked like a bruised banana. Took three salon visits to fix it.
