Spent $22 on a jar of 'artisanal' pickle cotton candy at a flea market in Akron
I saw a booth with a hand painted sign that said small batch pickles meet carnival sugar, and the guy behind the table swore it was the next big thing. I bought a mason jar for $22, got home, and it tasted like sweet relish mixed with cotton balls. My roommate tried one bite and literally gagged into the sink. That was two months ago and the jar is still sitting on top of my fridge because I feel bad throwing away that much money. Has anyone else been tricked by a fancy flea market snack, or am I the only one who falls for this stuff?
Twenty two bucks is steep for sure, but flea market food is half about the experience. Part of the fun is rolling the dice on weird stuff you would never find at a normal store. My rule is I only buy the strange snacks if they are under ten dollars, so when it flops I can laugh it off instead of staring at a jar on my fridge for two months. That pickle cotton candy sounds rough though, sweet relish and cotton balls is a combo nobody asked for.
