I put a pinch of salt in my hot chocolate and my whole family thinks I lost it
Honestly I saw some chef on a cooking show do this and figured it was just fancy TV stuff, but I was bored on a snowy Sunday here in Boise so I tried it. One tiny pinch of kosher salt, not even a quarter teaspoon, into a mug of the cheap powder stuff you get in a big can. I kid you not, it tasted like something from a coffee shop that charges $6. The salt killed that weird chalky aftertaste and made the chocolate taste way deeper. My wife tried it and said it was gross before she even took a sip, then she tried it and now she asks me to make it every night. My 12 year old still thinks we are weird and drinks plain Swiss Miss. I get it, salt in sweets sounds wrong, but the same thing works in cookies and caramel. Has anyone else tried this with other drinks, like does it work in apple cider or is it just a chocolate thing?
