PSA: I switched from laser to rotary on my jobsite layout last month in Phoenix and it legit cut my stakeout time in half
So for 3 years I've been using a laser level for all my foundation stakeouts and always thought rotary was overkill for residential work. Last month I had a 60x40 slab in Phoenix with a 2 day window before the concrete truck showed up, and my laser kept getting knocked around by the excavator running behind me. I was re-leveling it every 15 minutes and burning daylight, so I finally borrowed my foreman's rotary setup just to see. That thing threw a 360 line and I set all 14 corners and grade stakes in about 90 minutes, no re-setups, no babysitting the tripod. The part that got me was the vertical plumb, I could check the form walls without walking back and forth to the gun every time. I finished the layout by 2pm and spent the rest of the day double checking instead of rushing. Anyone else made this switch or am I just late to the party here?
