My takeoff software cut a bid from 6 hours to 40 minutes and I don't know how to feel about it
I finally tried a takeoff program on a small bathroom remodel last Tuesday, mostly because I was tired of printing plans and marking them up by hand. It measured the whole floor in about 40 minutes, and the same job took me just under 6 hours the old way back in March. That is a wild gap and I keep second guessing whether I trusted the numbers enough. The thing is I caught two spots where it read a doorway as wall, so I still walked the plan room by room with a scale ruler to check. It got me thinking that the real win is not speed, it is having a second set of eyes that never gets tired. Curious if anyone here still does takeoffs by hand for small jobs, or do you just trust the software now?
