Last Thursday was the worst day I've had on a slab in 5 years

Poured a 40-yard driveway in Austin and the concrete started setting in the truck before we even got it all out, had to ditch the last 3 yards and explain to the homeowner why his driveway has a cold joint running through the middle.

Dude what do you mean it was setting in the truck? That's like... that's a nightmare scenario right there. You're out there on a 40-yard pour and the concrete decides to stiffen up on you halfway through, that's the kind of thing that makes you question everything. And then having to just dump those last 3 yards, watching that material go to waste while the homeowner is standing there looking at a cold joint... I can't even imagine the sinking feeling in your gut when you realized what was happening.

and honestly @rosed32 thats the part that gets me too. the waste kills me, especially with material costs where they are now, watching three yards just hit the ground like that... a cold joint is one thing but having to rip it out later is a whole other level of hurt.
